As Brookline observes Pride Month, there are many opportunities to celebrate across town. Below is a selection of local LGBTQ+ owned businesses, upcoming Pride events and other avenues to support and engage with the Brookline LGBTQ+ community throughout the remainder of June.
Pride events
Sponsored by the Brookline Library Foundation, the Coolidge Corner Library is hosting a zine-making workshop in preparation for a queer zine festival the following weekend. Join to learn about the history of the self publishable print works and make your own with instruction.

Celebrate diversity and purchase zines and art from local artists at the Brookline Library Foundation’s first annual Queer Zine Fest. The event will also feature a drop-in zine-making workshop starting at noon. and free zines from Brookline Booksmith , a Coolidge Corner bookshop.

Brookline for the Culture , a Black woman-led group seeking to amplify voices of color in Brookline, is hosting a community-wide Pride celebration. The afternoon will include music, art, information and resources from local organizations, and other festivities for all age groups.

“Moonlight” Screening at Coolidge Corner Theatre
To close out its Pride celebrations, The Public Library of Brookline is collaborating with Coolidge Corner Theatre to offer a free screening of “Moonlight.” Reserve your spot to watch the Academy Award-winning coming-of-age film following a Black man as he grapples with his identity and sexuality.

LGBTQ+-owned businesses
Coolidge Corner’s Align Pilates offers private and semi-private training in Pilates, a system of exercise designed for rehabilitation and movement. Co-owners Kathleen Dickey and Larry Weisman are certified in Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrels, and other specialty Pilates techniques.

Nestled in the Coolidge Corner Arcade, Barlette is a queer- and woman-owned bar offering creative cocktails and small bites in an intimate atmosphere. Owner and barkeep Emily Vena and her team craft seasonally inspired cocktails, with each drink personalized to the guest through a choice of base spirit. The tiny bar is open from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday for walk-ins only.

Watch Coolidge Corner Theatre & Wicked Queer’s Pioneers of Queer Cinema bundle
Together with Wicked Queer, a Boston LGBT Film Festival, Coolidge Corner Theatre is presenting a virtual series of three German classics from the 1920s and ’30s. The films were early milestones in the development of queer cinema. Rent the collection here .
